Grieving Mother Demands Answers After Son's Fatal Bus Collision

Sivan Aviad, mother of 17-year-old Ofir Moshe Aviad, who was killed in a road accident in late July, is demanding answers from law enforcement regarding the circumstances of her son's death. Ofir was on his way to a basketball practice when a bus struck him near Nir Eliyahu, killing him instantly. His mother states that since the accident, she has not been updated on the details of the incident.

Aviad expressed frustration, saying, "No authority has approached me to explain what happened to my son. After the Shiva, I went to them and was told they couldn't provide details until the investigation concluded. A few days later, I received notification that the investigation was complete and transferred to the prosecutor's office, but even then, no one spoke to me." She described feeling helpless, stating, "They just called a mother after Shiva hoping she would hear something and said nothing. They just returned his ID card. This is not how to behave. You finished the investigation, explain what happened. Why do I have to remain without answers? Why do I have to initiate? Why don't they explain who is at fault, what happened there? They know everything. Why don't we know what's happening with the driver? Is he continuing to work as usual? He took our child, he murdered my child, but they won't do anything to him, and I can't do anything about it. I deserve answers."

She fondly remembered her son as a role model for his younger siblings, charismatic, and full of life, whose dreams were cut short. The police responded to the allegations, stating, "The investigation of the accident was conducted thoroughly and in-depth, including all necessary investigative actions and examination of evidence and circumstances. Contrary to the claims, representatives of the investigative unit met with family members and updated them according to the investigation stages. Upon completion of the investigation, the case was transferred about a month ago to the prosecutor's office for review and consideration of further proceedings."
