Father of Teen Murdered in Car Explosion Demands Respect for Remains

The story · English

Alaa Bassimi, father of 22-year-old Yahya, one of three young men killed in a car explosion in the Triangle region on Sunday, expressed his grief and anger in an interview with Kan News. "They are burnt. That's what angers me. You killed them, you eliminated them, at least leave us the bodies, give us respect, let us see my children, say goodbye," Bassimi stated.

Yahya disappeared overnight along with his cousins, 16-year-old Yazan Odeh and 20-year-old Qassem Odeh. The family had been at a wedding with neighbors the previous evening, and the young men vanished between 1 and 2 AM. Alaa Bassimi noted that while his son sometimes went out with his cousins during holidays, he sensed something was wrong when they disappeared.

The family discovered the tragedy when Alaa's wife saw a news report about three murder victims in a burnt car and realized her son and his cousins were missing. Alaa contacted the police, who questioned him and his wife about the young men's whereabouts. Police visited their home to collect evidence.

Bassimi stated he began his own inquiries in the village and confirmed the victims were his son and nephews. He mentioned that Yahya had recently begun working with him as an electrician and was distancing himself from criminal activities, expressing his efforts as a parent to keep his son safe from danger.
