Thousands Attend Selichot Prayers at Western Wall, President Herzog Prays for IDF Soldiers
Tens of thousands of Israelis gathered at the Western Wall Plaza in Jerusalem on Monday night for the central Selichot (penitential prayers) service, held during the days of repentance leading up to Yom Kippur. President Isaac Herzog attended the event, joining the vast crowds of worshippers.
During the service, President Herzog and Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, recited a special prayer for the safety and success of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers and security forces. The prayers are a significant tradition during this period.
The Western Wall Heritage Foundation organized the event. Another major Selichot service is scheduled for Tuesday night at the Western Wall, expected to draw tens of thousands more participants.
