Thousands Celebrate New Year Together at Inclusive Jerusalem Family Event

Thousands of families, including those with and without children with special needs, gathered in Jerusalem's Botanical Garden on the eve of the new year for an annual inclusive celebration. The event, a joint initiative by the Jerusalem Municipality's Center for Children with Disabilities (Tzamid) department and the "Kesher - The Home for Special Families" association, aimed to create an accessible and enjoyable space for all.

Following three challenging years, the desire for normalcy is particularly strong for families with children with special needs. This year's event, described as colorful, joyful, and moving, provided a rich array of experiences. It marked the kickoff for the annual Tzamid Festival.

The gathering facilitated connections and a sense of belonging among children, youth, and adults. The core idea was to foster an accessible environment where everyone could participate in activities tailored for children with and without special needs. Beyond enjoyment, the event sought to build new relationships and promote a more inclusive society.

Attendees enjoyed creative workshops, interactive activities, and a central performance. "We have been supporting families for over 30 years through our assistance center, legal aid, parent training, courses, lectures, and by building parent communities in workplaces," stated a representative from Kesher. "This event is part of Kesher's broader efforts to improve the quality of life for families with children and adults with special needs, as well as regulatory activities to protect their rights."
