Israeli Driver Without License Flees Police, Threatens Officer

An Eilat resident in his 30s, who has never obtained a driver's license, faces charges including driving while disqualified, fleeing police, and threatening an officer and his family. The Eilat District Prosecution Unit of the Israel Police filed an indictment against the man on Monday, also requesting his detention until the end of proceedings and a driving ban.

According to the indictment, on September 5, the accused drove in Eilat despite never having a license and being under a driving disqualification. When police signaled him to stop, he allegedly accelerated, crashed into a traffic island, and fled the vehicle on foot. A pursuing officer chased him as he climbed a school fence and entered the grounds, eventually climbing onto a guard booth.

After being apprehended, the suspect allegedly confronted officers, threatening one with physical violence and stating, "I will f*** you up, I will stab you, I will burn your children. How many children do you have?". During his interrogation, the suspect admitted to driving and knowing he was disqualified, though he invoked his right to silence for other questions. This is reportedly the third time he has been charged with driving without a license and driving while disqualified, having previously served jail time for similar offenses, including driving under the influence of drugs.

The prosecution cited his actions as demonstrating "real danger to the public, disregard for court decisions, and lack of fear of law enforcement." They are seeking his pre-trial detention due to his dangerousness and repeated offenses.
