MK Tropper Urges Voting Access for Families of IDF Wounded

Member of Knesset Chili Tropper has appealed to the Central Elections Committee, requesting that the families of wounded Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers be allowed to vote at polling stations located in hospitals. Tropper's plea, directed to Acting Director-General Dean Livneh, stems from repeated requests by families he met during visits to rehabilitation wards.

These families accompany their loved ones, often for extended periods and far from home, as they recover from injuries. While hospitalized soldiers are permitted to vote at hospital polling stations, their accompanying family members are currently required to travel to their registered place of residence to cast their ballots. This poses a significant challenge, especially for families caring for severely injured soldiers who cannot leave their side on election day.

Tropper specifically highlighted the plight of families with severely wounded soldiers, urging the committee to consider an exception to enable them to vote at the hospital. He also suggested that the committee explore solutions for families of other patients and injured individuals who require constant accompaniment, acknowledging their similar need for accessible voting options.
