MK Hili Tropper Reveals Extensive Family Military Service Amid Draft Exemption Debate

Member of Knesset Hili Tropper published a candid video on social media addressing the controversial draft exemption laws and enforcement freeze promoted by the coalition for the ultra-Orthodox community. Tropper opened by noting that ultra-Orthodox MKs disclosed their family members benefiting from these laws, prompting him to share his own family’s military service record. He expressed pride in his relatives who serve the state and warned that the new laws would increase the risks they face.

In the video, Tropper detailed that both his daughters serve in the Israel Defense Forces, with one in a special unit and the other as a combat soldier. Their spouses also serve in elite units, with one currently engaged in combat operations in Lebanon. Additionally, Tropper’s two brothers are enlisted, one as a battalion commander and the other continuing reserve service despite being a father and grandfather. His brothers-in-law and over twenty nephews and cousins have been serving continuously for two years and eight months, rarely returning home.

Tropper concluded by emphasizing the painful reality that all these family members will face greater danger due to the exemptions granted to draft evaders by the Israeli government.
