Tensions Flare Between Maccabi and Hapoel Tel Aviv Players During Derby
Emotions ran high during the Tel Aviv derby between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv when Maccabi star Dor Peretz and Hapoel defender Aimbo Maïmbo clashed just before halftime. Peretz went down on the field, claiming Maïmbo had fouled him, and received medical attention. As Peretz left the field after treatment, Maïmbo approached him, and the two exchanged heated words with agitated hand gestures and close proximity.
Hapoel goalkeeper Assaf Tzur attempted to de-escalate the situation by pulling Maïmbo away from Peretz. However, the referee, David Foxman, issued a yellow card to Maïmbo, who was already on the referee's book by the end of the incident.
