Business Owner Reports Millions in Checks Stolen in Factory Burglary

A prominent businessman has filed a police report in Netivot after discovering his factory in the Sdot Negev Regional Council was burglarized during the recent holiday. The owner, who purchased the factory, considered one of the largest in Israel, about a year ago, found that a safe containing checks worth millions of shekels had been stolen.

Security alerts were activated at the factory during the holiday, and forces responded, but found no signs of a break-in at the time. It was only after the holiday, when the owner arrived, that the extent of the theft became apparent.

Police in Netivot have opened an investigation into the incident, suspecting a gang of thieves was responsible. In a separate incident during the holiday in the Merhavim Regional Council, a home was burglarized while the owners were away. Jewelry and gold were stolen, and the perpetrators also accessed a safe containing a handgun belonging to the homeowner. Police are also investigating this case.

This follows a recent report of an indictment against a 16-year-old who allegedly broke into his parents' home in the Galilee, stole a wall-mounted safe containing NIS 12,000, passports, and gold jewelry, and was charged with burglary, joint theft, threats, and malicious property damage.
