Singer and songwriter Omer Cohen performed for the first time in his career at Ramat Gan Stadium on Thursday night, before tens of thousands of people. During the show, he unexpectedly invited Shir Levi to join him on stage for a duet.
The pair performed “Isha Ne’emanah,” one of the best-known classics by Shir Levi’s father, Yishai Levi, who died last week. The song is described as one of the major landmarks of Mizrahi music in Israel.
Yishai Levi rose to prominence in the 1980s and later released dozens of albums and enduring songs that became part of the Israeli soundtrack, including “Re’ayah,” “Rikod Romanti,” “Tmunot Bechol,” “Ananim,” and “Isha Ne’emanah.” He was widely admired for his distinctive vocal abilities and the way he delivered lyrics, and his influence reached generations of younger artists who saw him as a professional role model and source of inspiration.
