Gabi Lasky Under Fire for Supporting Film Accusing IDF of War Crimes

Gabi Lasky, a candidate for the "Democrats" party, sparked controversy on Monday by expressing support for an anti-Israel film that accuses IDF soldiers of committing war crimes in Gaza. Lasky's tweet, which stated, "The violent discourse against the creators must stop. These are works that raise ethical questions, which must be asked precisely out of pain," was deleted later that evening.

The deletion came after significant criticism and pressure from the party's campaign management. Lasky had initially defended the film's creators, calling for an end to what she termed "violent discourse" against them and emphasizing the importance of asking ethical questions, even amidst pain.

The Religious Zionism party responded to the deleted tweet, criticizing Lasky and other political figures. They stated, "Tweets can perhaps be deleted, but your actions that will lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state cannot be deleted. The support of your government members for slandering the State of Israel and our heroic fighters in the world is a disgrace and a shame. These are Gadi Eisenkot's partners who will lead the State of Israel if the left is elected."

The party's statement implied that Lasky's support for the film, and similar stances by other politicians, could lead to detrimental outcomes for Israel, including the potential establishment of a Palestinian state.
