Israeli Lawmaker Slams Gaza War Film as Damaging and False

Knesset Member Revital Gottlieb has sharply criticized an Israeli film about the IDF's actions in Gaza, calling its accusations damaging and false. The film, created by Israeli filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Shore, was screened at the Venice Film Festival.

According to its creators, the film aims to show how IDF operational methods and policies allegedly intentionally harm Gaza residents. It features testimonies from 24 anonymous Israeli soldiers and intelligence personnel, whose faces and voices are altered. The film claims the IDF uses artificial intelligence systems for target selection, which allegedly do not always account for potential civilian damage.

However, a report by Channel 7 notes that the film's claims have not been proven or thoroughly verified, even by its creators. Gottlieb condemned the film, demanding a response from Israeli leadership. She expressed particular outrage over the participation of individuals from Unit 8200, whom she accused of spreading falsehoods about IDF operations and targeting decisions.

"With what we have at home, we don't need any enemies!" Gottlieb stated. She questioned how soldiers featured in the film could still be serving and demanded explanations regarding the lack of action against them and the whereabouts of the military censor.

Gottlieb also criticized the IDF's press service for its silence, arguing that the lack of response aids the spread of a narrative that severely damages the reputation of the army and its soldiers. She concluded by quoting Isaiah: "Out of you shall come destroyers and devastators."
