Israeli Windsurfer Tom Reuveny Finishes Fifth After Controversial Race Rerun

Israeli Olympic windsurfer Tom Reuveny secured a fifth-place finish at the World Championships in Weymouth, England, following a dramatic and controversial semi-final race. Reuveny initially qualified for the medal race after a strong performance, but the organizing committee ordered a rerun due to a premature start. This decision, which Reuveny described as a "serious screw-up," forced him to compete again after significant physical and mental fatigue, ultimately preventing him from reaching the finals.

Despite the setback, Reuveny expressed his determination to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, aiming to improve his consistency and secure medals in major championships. He noted that since the Paris Olympics, his goal has been to win medals at European and World Championships, and he feels he is close to achieving this, consistently ranking in the top five.

Reuveny also shared personal news, announcing his upcoming wedding to his partner Saskia Sills in England, with a larger celebration planned in Israel next year. He highlighted the challenges of balancing professional training abroad with personal life, especially given the ongoing situation in Israel. His partner, Saskia Sills, is also an accomplished kitefoiler and will be coaching a competition soon.
