Chasidic Singer Ahrele Samet Releases Ancient Vizhnitz Melody

Chasidic singer Ahrele Samet has released a new single, "V'tenah Tokef," featuring an ancient melody from the Vizhnitz Hasidic dynasty. This is the second single from his musical project "Heilege Minutin 5," which aims to bring sacred melodies to a contemporary audience.

The melody, passed down through generations in the Vizhnitz court, was originally received by Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak of D'shesh from his elders. Samet, who grew up under the influence of Rabbi Mordechai Hager, the Rebbe of Torat Abraham Yitzchak, presents the tune with a modern musical arrangement while preserving its original authenticity and sanctity.

The release is timed for the High Holy Days, as the melody's themes of judgment and spiritual awakening resonate with the period. The arrangement and musical production were handled by David Taub, with contributions from various musicians and a choir.

This release follows a trend of new musical works emerging for the High Holy Days from other artists like Ishay Ribo, Zusha, Meir Nusnweig, and Mendi Fortnoy. Samet's project, however, is noted for its direct connection to ancient Hasidic tradition, serving as a bridge between the past and present.
