Vizhnitz Hassidic Niggun Revived by Akiva Grunman and Shaye Gross

Singers Akiva Grunman and Shaye Gross have released a modern rendition of the ancient Hassidic melody 'Walach'l.' This tune was historically sung at gatherings led by the Vizhnitz Rebbe, Rabbi Mordechai Hager, known as the 'Imrei Chaim.' The melody, passed down orally for generations, was previously known only to a select few.

The new production aims to bring this traditional piece to a wider audience, featuring arrangements by Moishe Jacob and musical production by Shlomi Bukspan. The arrangement blends traditional Hassidic elements with contemporary sounds, aiming to connect modern listeners to the melody's sacred origins.

The project is part of a broader effort within the Vizhnitz community to preserve and revitalize ancient Hassidic melodies. The involvement of Grunman and Gross, known for their connection to authentic Hassidic music, underscores a commitment to maintaining this musical heritage.
