Man Charged with Poisoning Baby Food with Sedatives
The prosecution has filed an indictment against Yan Shamla, a 41-year-old resident of Beersheba, for allegedly introducing prescription sedatives into baby food jars in Jerusalem. According to the indictment, Shamla crushed benzodiazepine pills, which are prohibited for children without specialist approval, and mixed them into "Prinoch" brand baby food on multiple occasions in May and June. As a result of his actions, five infants were poisoned. Shamla faces charges including five counts of using dangerous poison and five counts of assaulting a minor or helpless person.
