Arkia Cancels Vietnam Route, Launches Philippines Flights

Arkia Airlines has officially canceled its planned direct route from Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The route, initially slated to launch in October 2026 and touted as a significant development for Israeli travelers, was scrapped due to lower-than-expected demand and pre-sale response. The flights were expected to take approximately 13.5 hours, with round-trip economy tickets priced around $1,500.

Following the cancellation, Arkia's management has decided to reallocate resources to bolster other existing routes in Asia. As part of this strategic shift, the airline will double its direct flights to Hanoi, Vietnam's capital, increasing frequency from one flight per week to two during October and November.

In parallel with these adjustments in Vietnam, Arkia is expanding its presence in East Asia by launching a new direct route to Manila, Philippines. This new service is scheduled to commence on January 3, 2027, operating weekly with Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft, which include a business class section. Economy fares for the Manila route will start at $749 one-way. This expansion aligns with the broader recovery trend in the aviation industry and the gradual return of foreign airlines to Ben Gurion Airport.
