Lior Narkis Opens Up About Depression, Divorce, and New Love Ahead of 50th Birthday

Israeli singer Lior Narkis is celebrating his 50th birthday and 30 years in the music industry with a major concert. Ahead of the milestone, Narkis has spoken candidly about a difficult period in his life, revealing he suffered from severe depression for two years, during which he was largely confined to his bed and contemplated ending his career. He described hiding his struggles behind smiles during performances, even crying on the way to shows.

Narkis attributed his depression primarily to his divorce from his wife, Sapir, with whom he shares three children. He acknowledged that the separation was painful for their children and admitted that seeing his ex-wife move on, notably with actor Assi Cohen, was initially difficult. He stated that their current relationship is purely functional.

He shared that professional help, including therapy and medication like Cipralex, was crucial in his recovery. His manager also played a role in urging him to confront his issues and save his career. Despite his personal struggles, Narkis continued to perform out of commitment to his band and crew, who depend on him for their livelihood.

Looking forward, Narkis feels a significant shift in his life as he enters his fifties. He expressed a desire to enjoy life more, travel, and believes this decade will be different from the previous ones. He also highlighted his pride in his son, Eliya, who is following in his musical footsteps and will perform at his upcoming concert.

Narkis also spoke about his new relationship with Miri, whom he credits with saving him and calls the greatest love of his life. Miri, who also has children from a previous marriage, recalled meeting Narkis when he performed at her wedding 12 years prior, though he didn't initially remember the event. She described him as being in a broken state when they reconnected, but she believed in his potential for a better future.
