Lior Narkis Opens Up About Depression, Divorce, and New Love Ahead of 50th Birthday

Israeli singer Lior Narkis is reflecting on a challenging period in his life as he approaches his 50th birthday and celebrates 30 years in the music industry. In a candid interview, Narkis revealed he endured a two-year battle with severe depression, during which he struggled to get out of bed and felt his career was over. He described hiding his struggles behind smiles during performances, particularly at Caesarea.

The divorce from his wife, Sapir, was a primary catalyst for his depression, causing significant pain to their children. Narkis admitted to seeking professional help, including therapy and medication like Cipralex, and acknowledged the crucial role his manager played in urging him to confront his issues and save his career. Despite his personal turmoil, Narkis continued to perform out of commitment to his band and crew, who depend on him for their livelihood.

He recounted an instance of crying uncontrollably on the drive to a performance but still managing to go on stage with a smile, unnoticed by the audience. Narkis also spoke about the difficulty of seeing his ex-wife move on, acknowledging the pain it initially caused but emphasizing that his children's well-being remains paramount.

Looking ahead, Narkis feels a significant shift in his life, anticipating his fifties to be a period of enjoyment and travel.
