The Yarkon River area, near Petah Tikva, offers families a natural escape within Israel's densely populated central region. Key sites include "Leah's House" or "The Orchard House," a historic pumping station from the early 20th century, named after graffiti found on its walls. Nearby, the "Hidden Waterfall" provides a refreshing spot for swimming and picnics, fed by the clean springs of Rosh Ha'ayin.
Further exploration reveals "The Water Lily Pool," a sensitive ecological reserve home to yellow water lilies and various aquatic species, which is not open for swimming or picnics. Adjacent is the "Water Lily Meander," also within the reserve's protected area. The area also features historical remnants like the "Concrete House," built in 1911 as one of the first reinforced concrete structures in the country, and the "Abu Rabah Mill," a historic flour mill.
In the Southern Sharon region, near Hod Hasharon, "Klayim U'Mebochim" (Corn and Mazes) offers a unique agricultural experience. Visitors can enjoy sweet corn, navigate sunflower, cotton, and other themed mazes, and engage in activities like the "Archaeological Maze" and a "Ball Pit." The attraction plans to feature a pea maze in early 2027 and continues corn picking until the end of February.
The Hod Hasharon Ecological Park, a revitalized short stream, now boasts the country's largest ecological lake, abundant greenery, picnic areas, and wildlife viewing spots. The park's stream has been rerouted and features artificial meanders, designed to serve as a model for future stream restorations.
Additionally, the "Suscafe" coffee cart in the moshav of Shede Hemed offers a unique experience combining Zionism, nature, and therapeutic horseback riding. Owned by a couple who run a therapeutic farm, it serves as a gathering place for veterans and offers a menu of food and drinks in a spacious, shaded setting.
