Former IDF Chief Eisenkot Slams Filmmakers Over 'Distorted' Gaza War Documentary

Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the "Yashar!" party and former IDF Chief of Staff, sharply criticized the creators of the documentary "NezA," accusing them of harming Israel during a difficult time and damaging the reputation of IDF soldiers. Eisenkot stated that IDF soldiers have been fighting a just and difficult war for nearly three years against a brutal enemy responsible for the October 7th atrocities.

"The choice by Israeli creators to stand on an international stage, present a distorted and one-sided picture, and cast moral aspersions on the soldiers defending our homes is moral blindness, detachment from reality, and harm to the State of Israel at a difficult time," Eisenkot said. He further argued that while criticism is legitimate in a democracy, there is a vast difference between that and slandering soldiers to gain applause at foreign festivals.

This controversy follows a recent clash between Eisenkot and the Likud party. The Likud claimed that Eliran Eliya, ranked 33rd on the Yashar! Knesset list, had signed a statement of support for the film's creators from the Directors Guild. Eisenkot refuted this, stating Eliya was not a signatory, and accused Likud of starting the new year with familiar lies.
