Trump Says Hamas Ready to Disarm Amid Reduced Gaza Fighting

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that fighting in Gaza has decreased and expressed confidence that Hamas is prepared to give up its weapons. He praised the efforts of his special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who were involved in ceasefire negotiations, attributing significant progress to the American side.

Speaking to reporters on his plane, Trump highlighted the return of all hostages as a key achievement resulting from American diplomacy. "Look at Gaza, for example. Look at the fact that we got all the hostages back," he said, adding that "not as much fighting" is occurring in the enclave.

Trump's remarks come amid reports of potential changes in the U.S. Middle East team, with speculation that CIA Director John Ratcliffe might replace Witkoff and Kushner. However, the situation on the ground remains tense.

Israel continues to conduct near-daily strikes on targets in Gaza, stating these attacks are aimed at Hamas militants posing a threat to Israeli soldiers. These strikes have resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children, a reality that contrasts with Trump's assessment of reduced fighting intensity.

Despite the ongoing conflict and casualties, the U.S. President believes the progress made creates an environment conducive to further resolution and the disarmament of Hamas. Previously, Trump downplayed reports of Chinese companies providing Iran with satellite imagery before an attack on a base in Jordan.
