Trump Claims Hamas Willing to Disarm, Citing Gaza Progress

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Hamas is prepared to give up its weapons, attributing this development to the efforts of special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump highlighted the return of all hostages from Gaza and a significant reduction in hostilities as evidence of progress. "Look at Gaza, we got all the hostages back. People forget that, but there's very little fighting going on. Hamas is ready to give up its weapons. They've done a tremendous job," Trump stated, praising Witkoff and Kushner's work.

Washington has been actively pursuing the disarmament of Hamas as part of a broader U.S. initiative for the Gaza Strip. Earlier statements from Witkoff and Kushner indicated that Hamas representatives had expressed a willingness to disarm during negotiations.
