Police in Jaffa arrested a city resident in his 30s on Thursday in connection with a shooting that wounded three men earlier this week on Shmuel Ben Adiya Street. The suspect was found hiding in a safe house in central Israel, and police are expected to ask Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court to extend his detention. The three victims in that case were lightly hurt.
At the same time, investigators are still trying to solve another shooting in the city that has drawn wide attention. Rajad Abd al-Hadi, a 22-year-old social media personality from Jaljulia, was shot at close range while broadcasting live on TikTok from a hookah bar in Jaffa, in front of thousands of viewers.
According to the suspicion, a masked gunman arrived on a motorcycle, got off, approached Abd al-Hadi and opened fire at close range. The attacker fled within seconds as she collapsed before the patrons and the livestream audience. Abd al-Hadi was taken to Wolfson Medical Center, where she remains hospitalized.
Police are reviewing security camera footage, the live-stream video and evidence collected at the scene to reconstruct what happened. So far, no suspects have been arrested in that case. Investigators are still trying to determine whether the shooter acted alone or as part of a group, and what prompted the apparent attempted assassination of the 22-year-old.
