Israeli left-wing commentator Guy Maroz launched a harsh on-air attack Thursday night on U.S. President Donald Trump during Channel 14’s program “The Patriots,” while wearing a shirt with Trump’s image. Speaking amid the developing deal with Iran, Maroz said Trump is “a person with special needs,” claimed he “arrived at the White House by mistake,” and called him “a huge disaster.”
Maroz went further, saying, “I always thought this way, the man is a disaster and he must, understand, be put in some institution. The man is not sane.” When host Yinon Magal asked whether the comments were due to the Iran agreement, Maroz said it was “not related to the deal.” He said he was referring to Trump’s wider record of statements and actions.
Maroz cited several examples, including Trump’s talk of “destroying civilization,” “missiles are coming to them,” “Syria will take care of Hezbollah,” and “Israel will withdraw from Lebanon.” He argued that these remarks showed Trump was mentally unfit, not just mistaken on one policy issue.
He also contrasted Trump with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling Netanyahu “really a brilliant man” by comparison. Maroz said Netanyahu made a mistake by relying on Trump and believing that trust in him would save Israel, adding that “on mistakes you pay, and you need to go home.”
