Iron Dome Developer Discusses Iran, Laser Tech, and Future Defense
Dr. Danny Gold, the architect behind Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system, has spoken about the nation's evolving defense capabilities and future challenges in a recent interview. Israel aims to be the first globally to have an operational laser defense system, with second and third-generation systems in development. He also addressed the growing threat of hypersonic missiles, acknowledging their real and tangible danger due to their speed and unpredictable flight paths, a challenge that requires continuous innovation.
Looking ahead, Gold discussed Israel's ambitions in space, aiming to be a leading nation in offensive space capabilities, including advanced satellite technology. Gold also highlighted the importance of nurturing future talent through programs like Talpiot, Psagot, and Adom, which identify and train top scientific and technological minds for the defense establishment.
