Erdogan to Visit Syria Soon, Turkish FM Says, Citing Israel as Major Obstacle
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced on Sunday that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will soon make an official visit to Syria. The purpose of the visit is to advance and normalize bilateral relations between Ankara and Damascus.
Fidan emphasized Israel's regional role, stating that "Israel constantly targets and undermines Syria's stability, which directly serves the interests of terrorist forces in the region." He further asserted that current Israeli government policy represents the most significant obstacle to positive developments in Damascus.
"We in Turkey are doing everything in our power to develop and strengthen the common relations between Turkey and Syria," Fidan added. He indicated that these efforts aim to establish stability and counter threats surrounding both countries.
