Israel Strikes Southern Lebanon With Intense Raids and Artillery

Israeli warplanes conducted a series of intense airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Sunday, targeting multiple locations including Nabatieh, Kfar Tibnit, and the vicinity of Dabbasha hill and Harj Ali Al-Taher. The National News Agency reported that the raids were repeated in quick succession, with some areas hit by two or three airstrikes within short intervals. Simultaneously, Israeli artillery shelled the town of Zawtar Al-Sharqiyeh.

As of Sunday, there were no official reports of casualties or injuries resulting from the attacks. These strikes follow a broader wave of Israeli assaults on southern Lebanon on Friday and Saturday, which included airstrikes, artillery shelling, and explosions affecting residential areas, homes, a school, and infrastructure.

The ongoing military actions occur despite a framework agreement signed by Lebanon and Israel on June 26, brokered by the United States. This agreement stipulates a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army. Israel continues to occupy positions in southern Lebanon, some for decades and others since the 2023-2024 war, expanding its military presence within Lebanese territory amidst persistent regional tensions and military operations.
