Israeli Forces Raid West Bank Towns of Qalqilya and Azzun

Israeli occupation forces raided the West Bank city of Qalqilya and the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilya, early Sunday morning. Military vehicles entered Qalqilya from its southern entrance and spread through the Al-Naqar neighborhood and the Kafr Saba area. In Azzun, forces entered from the north and deployed in the Al-Mantar neighborhood and the Triangle area.

Sources reported that the forces withdrew from both locations without making any arrests. These incursions occur amidst ongoing Israeli military operations in the West Bank, which have seen an increase in raids and detentions, particularly in the northern West Bank.

West Bank cities and towns experience near-daily raids by Israeli forces, including house searches, the establishment of checkpoints, road closures, and arrests. Israel states these operations target wanted individuals and aim to prevent attacks and dismantle armed cells.

The intensified operations follow the escalation of violence in the West Bank since October 7, 2023, coinciding with increased settler attacks against Palestinians and their property. Palestinian data indicates hundreds of Palestinians have been killed and thousands arrested during these operations. Despite international calls for de-escalation and civilian protection, Israeli forces continue their raids, which Palestinian sources say restrict movement and disrupt daily life.
