Nine Recruits Fall Ill After Holiday Meal at IDF Training Base

Nine female recruits at the Nitzanim training base reported experiencing abdominal pain and other symptoms following a Rosh Hashanah holiday meal. The father of one of the recruits told Maariv that his daughter described a "panic at the base" due to the incident. He also stated that one recruit fell during guard duty due to weakness and broke her arm.

According to the father, most of the affected recruits, except for two, did not receive hospital treatment but were treated at the base. He reiterated that there was panic at the base because of the event.

The IDF stated that after an examination, there was no widespread illness among the recruits at the Nitzanim training base. A small number of female soldiers reported gastrointestinal symptoms during the day. Following these reports, an active inquiry was conducted among all soldiers in the company to identify additional cases. Approximately nine recruits met the case definition, received medical treatment according to their condition, and were sent to rest in their unit if necessary. Medical officials are aware of the situation and are overseeing the treatment of the affected soldiers.
