Former Beitar Jerusalem Star Derek Boateng Opens Luxury Hotel in Ghana
Derek Boateng, a former standout foreign player for Beitar Jerusalem and the Ghanaian national team, has transitioned from football to the hospitality industry. Boateng, 43, has opened a five-star hotel named "Mendiata" in Accra, Ghana. His wife, Aisha, is managing the hotel's operations.
The hotel's name, "Mendiata," is a portmanteau derived from the names of Boateng's three children: Mendi, Taisha, and Trick. Boateng is widely regarded as one of the most impressive foreign players to have played in Israel, contributing significantly to Beitar Jerusalem's championship wins between 2006 and 2008.
Boateng enjoyed a globe-trotting football career, playing in numerous countries including England, Spain, Greece, Sweden, Ukraine, Germany, and Israel. His previous clubs include Fulham, Panathinaikos, FC Köln, Getafe, Rayo Vallecano, Eibar, and Dnipro, among others.
