Real Madrid are targeting Michael Olise and, according to a Marca report, are prepared to go as high as €220 million for the Bayern Munich winger. That figure is far above the €150 million Madrid president Florentino Perez mentioned during his election campaign, when he said Real would buy a Champions League player for that amount.
The club had previously confirmed a €150 million offer for Julian Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid rejected it and publicly mocked the bid. Marca says that offer was never the real plan and was instead meant to complicate Alvarez’s move to Barcelona. The true objective, the report adds, was always Olise.
Bayern chairman Herbert Hainer recently said that Perez could “save himself the trouble” if he planned to bid for Olise. Bayern do not describe themselves as a club that sells players, but Madrid believe a huge offer could change that, especially since Olise reportedly wants to play alongside Kylian Mbappe.
Olise and Mbappe linked up effectively in France’s 3-1 win over Senegal, with the Bayern midfielder providing two assists. Olise, last season’s Bundesliga assist leader, finished the campaign with 22 goals and 31 assists in all competitions. If Madrid meet the €220 million valuation, he would become the second-most expensive transfer in history. The article also says Madrid have already announced signings of Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate, with Denzel Dumfries expected to be made official soon, while Enzo Fernandez leads another list of targets that could trigger major sales next summer.
