Real Madrid issued an official statement on Saturday denying recent reports linking the club to Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise. Madrid said there had been no direct or indirect contact with the player, his representatives, or anyone from his entourage, and added that it regretted the spread of rumors that do not reflect reality.
The club also emphasized its “excellent institutional relationship” with Bayern, describing a long history of mutual respect, cooperation, and appreciation. Madrid said both clubs believe any possible interest in a player under contract at the other club should first be handled between the institutions themselves, in line with the principle of institutional loyalty that has historically guided their relationship.
The denial comes after a week in which Olise’s name dominated Real Madrid’s transfer coverage. Several media outlets had identified the French winger as one of Madrid’s main targets for next summer, with reported fees ranging from 150 million to 220 million euros. Spanish reports said Madrid also wanted to avoid approaching players under contract without first contacting their clubs, and did not want to pursue a move it sees as unrealistic.
Bayern, meanwhile, has repeatedly insisted that Olise is not for sale and has no intention of negotiating his departure. The 24-year-old is under contract until 2029, was recently named Bundesliga player of the season, and posted 22 goals and 31 assists in 52 matches. Bayern also plans to extend his contract. Club president Herbert Hainer said in recent weeks, “If Florentino Perez wants to send us an offer for Olise, something that has not happened so far, he can save himself the effort. He is a Bayern player and has a long-term contract. We are not a selling club.” Olise is currently playing with France in the 2026 World Cup matches, which has further raised his market value.
