Spanish outlet Marca reported on Wednesday that Real Madrid is continuing its pursuit of Bayern Munich star Michael Olise and has set an extraordinary spending ceiling of 220 million euros. That figure would bring him close to Neymar’s all-time transfer record of 222 million euros, paid by Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.
Olise, regarded as one of the world’s top players, is under contract with Bayern until 2029, and the German club is refusing to sell him. Bayern president Herbert Hainer said, according to the report, that “Bayern is not a club that sells,” and even a theoretical 250 million euros would probably not change that stance.
The 23-year-old winger has had a huge season, scoring 22 goals and adding 31 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions. The report says he also delivered 21 assists in the Champions League. Real has already submitted a 150 million euro offer and is expected to follow with a 200 million euro bid as part of Florentino Pérez’s next “Galáctico” project.
Olise currently plays alongside Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé for France. To make room for him and Enzo Fernández, Real may sell several leading players. Aurélien Tchouaméni could be on the way out and has been linked with Manchester United, while Federico Valverde is expected to stay for at least one more season.
