Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, said preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI will open on June 25. The announcement marks the start of the game’s official marketing push, which the publisher had previously said would begin this summer ahead of a planned release later this year.
Along with the preorder date, Take-Two revealed the game’s official cover art. It follows the familiar Grand Theft Auto style and features stylized illustrations of characters, weapons, vehicles and animals that are expected to populate the new and updated version of Vice City.
Rockstar has not yet released a new trailer, but industry observers think one could arrive alongside the preorder launch next week. The move is being viewed as a positive sign for the game’s timetable, especially because Rockstar has historically delayed major titles and usually announced such delays about six months before a planned release.
With the release window now deep into that sensitive period and the preorder rollout proceeding as planned, the company appears determined to meet its commitments. Current signs point to GTA VI reaching stores and digital storefronts for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in about five months.
