First Baby of Jewish Year Born in Northern Israel
The first baby born in the new Jewish year 5787 was a girl, delivered in the Poriya Medical Center in Tiberias. Odaya Cohen Alishvili, from the community of Odayot, gave birth in the early minutes of Rosh Hashanah. The baby was born at 39 weeks gestation. According to Walla, Odaya's contractions began after she arrived in Tiberias with her husband, Tal, and daughter, Noam, to celebrate the holiday with her parents. The Poriya Medical Center is also known as the "Tzafon" Medical Center.
