Bank of Israel Tests National Emergency Preparedness for Quake Scenario
The Bank of Israel conducted a national emergency drill this week simulating an earthquake to assess the monetary system's readiness to maintain cash supplies and essential banking services during crises. The exercise's findings indicated a high level of preparedness among the system's participants.
"The national emergency drill to test readiness for an earthquake scenario, led by the Bank of Israel and the Cash Department, represents an additional step towards strengthening the system's preparedness to deal with crises," stated Limor Goldstein, Director of the Cash Department. "Maintaining cash as a strategic national infrastructure is essential for strengthening civil resilience and maintaining a sense of personal security, in both normal and emergency conditions. The drill was designed to ensure we are fully prepared, professional, and ready in the moment of truth."
