Jerusalem Man, 19, Identified as Suspect in Kidnapping of 10-Year-Old Boy

A Jerusalem resident, 19-year-old Yigal Buskila, has been identified as the suspect in the kidnapping of 10-year-old Yahli Sofer. The court authorized the release of Buskila's name and image on Friday, following a police request. Authorities believe publicizing his identity may encourage additional victims or witnesses to come forward, especially given suspicions that Buskila may have harmed other minors.

Buskila denies the allegations against him. The investigation began when Yahli disappeared from the Kfar Ganim G' area in Petah Tikva. Extensive searches were conducted for hours until Yahli was found around 1:30 AM in Bnei Brak, with Buskila present.

During court hearings for extending his remand, police sought to release Buskila's details, arguing it would aid the investigation and help locate further victims or witnesses. The court found significant suspicion warranting continued investigation and ordered a psychiatric evaluation for Buskila.

Investigators attempted to take a statement from Yahli, but the process was halted at the boy's request. Defense attorneys argued that existing evidence does not indicate violence was used against Yahli. With the lifting of the publication ban, police hope releasing Buskila's identity will yield more information to determine if this was an isolated incident or if other minors are involved.
