Poll Finds American Jews Disapprove of Trump More Than Netanyahu

A new poll indicates that former President Donald Trump is less popular among American Jews than Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Seventy-five percent of surveyed Jewish voters disapprove of Trump's performance, while 67% hold a negative view of Netanyahu. The current Israeli government also faces significant disapproval from American Jews, with 65% opposing its policies in Gaza and Judea and Samaria. Despite concerns about an anti-Israel stance within parts of the Democratic Party, the poll suggests a mass shift of American Jews to the Republican party is not occurring. Looking ahead to upcoming Congressional elections, 67% of respondents plan to vote for Democrats, with only 26% intending to vote Republican. The survey highlights that while Israel remains important to American Jewish voters, it is not the primary determinant of their vote. Cost of living was cited as the most important issue by 37%, followed by the future of American democracy at 36%, and antisemitism at 25%. Israel ranked fifth at 16%. Although 71% of respondents still feel an emotional connection to Israel, their disapproval of the current Israeli government's policies is high. The findings present a complex picture: American Jews are dissatisfied with Netanyahu and concerned about antisemitism within the Democratic Party, yet they find Trump even less acceptable. Republicans have thus far failed to capitalize on perceived tensions between American Jews and Democrats to attract a significant portion of the Jewish electorate, a factor that could be crucial in closely contested states during the upcoming midterm elections.
