Netanyahu Vows Unity and Strength in New Year's Message

In a special video address for the Rosh Hashanah holiday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reflected on the past year, highlighting the return of hostages and fallen soldiers, military and economic achievements, and called for national unity amidst ongoing elections. "When we stand together, there is no force in the world that can defeat us," Netanyahu stated.

Netanyahu began by recalling the past year's difficult moments, particularly the collective prayer for the safe return of all hostages. He noted the emotional reunions and the return of IDF Sergeant Major Yehuda Katz, who fell 44 years ago, emphasizing, "We do not forget."

The Prime Minister then reviewed Israel's accomplishments, asserting that the nation once again demonstrated its military and national capabilities. "Last year we asked to be a head and not a tail. This year we were again a head. We did what we know how to do best in the world, to initiate, to lead, and to surprise," he said, adding that Israel had personally dealt with a significant number of its enemies.

Beyond security successes, Netanyahu underscored Israel's strength in economics and innovation, calling it a "global superpower" with much to be proud of. He also noted the continued immigration to Israel during this complex period, with many Jews choosing to make the country their home.

Addressing all citizens, Netanyahu thanked IDF soldiers, reservists, security forces, doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs, and everyone building the nation. He urged continued unity despite political disagreements during the election period, stating that "in moments of trial, this people knows how to unite."

He concluded with a traditional Rosh Hashanah blessing: "May the year and its curses end, may the year and its blessings begin. A unified and good year for all the people of Israel."
