Netanyahu Addresses IDF Command on Rosh Hashanah, Vows Regime Change

On September 3, 2026, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, alongside Defense Minister Israel Katz, IDF Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir, and members of the General Staff Forum, held a Rosh Hashanah ceremony at the Kirya complex in Tel Aviv. The event, announced by the Prime Minister's Office, featured holiday speeches from the nation's leaders to the command staff.

Prime Minister Netanyahu emphasized the "historical significance of the current period," stating, "We faced the danger of annihilation from a regime that wants to arm itself with nuclear bombs to exterminate us. We have repelled this threat, as well as other threats." He characterized the current adversary as "shaky" and "weaker than ever," engaged in a "struggle for survival."

Netanyahu expressed confidence in Israel's ability to overcome its challenges, saying, "I am convinced of the main task that lies before us, of our capabilities, of the capabilities of our heroic soldiers, our heroic pilots, squadrons, navigators, and all our other units in the home front and our strong people. I am convinced of our ability to eliminate this threat once and for all. That is, to overthrow this regime. This is the main task that still lies before us, but it is close. It is not impossible. It is within reach."

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister issued a warning to external actors, stating, "They attack not only us. They attack everyone except us. They know our strength, our might, and our determination. I say to our enemies: do not mess with us. If you have learned anything, it is that you should not mess with us. We have the strength, the determination, and the internal unity to defeat you, and this is what I wish the people of Israel in the coming year, in the near future. Happy New Year!"
