Hasidic Leader Asks Mayor to Expand Educational Institutions in Beit Shemesh

The Grand Rebbe of Toldos Aharon met with Beit Shemesh Mayor Shmuel Greenberg for an extended discussion regarding the expansion of the Hasidic community's institutions in the Ramat D' neighborhood. The Rebbe specifically requested the mayor's assistance in opening an additional yeshiva.

Toldos Aharon has a significant Hasidic presence in Beit Shemesh, with its community growing in recent years, particularly in Ramat D'. The Rebbe views Beit Shemesh as a central hub for the future of Haredi Judaism, especially in its developing neighborhoods. The community has recently invested approximately 2 million shekels in establishing three active synagogues and a mikveh (ritual bath) in Ramat D', which have become focal points for the growing Hasidic population.

The Rebbe visited Beit Shemesh for a week-long rest in mid-August, during which he received followers each evening for blessings ahead of the High Holidays. Mayor Greenberg was among those who visited and received an unusually long, private audience with the Rebbe.

During their meeting, they discussed the needs and challenges of the growing community. Community leaders noted that despite Toldos Aharon not participating in municipal elections, the mayor has been supportive and helpful. The Rebbe expressed gratitude, wished the mayor success as a "faithful and good emissary" for Haredi Judaism in the neighborhood, and presented him with an apple and honey, a Rosh Hashanah tradition.

In a private conversation, the Rebbe formally requested the mayor's help in expanding and strengthening Toldos Aharon's institutions in Ramat D', emphasizing the need for a new yeshiva. This meeting underscores Beit Shemesh's increasing importance to the Hasidic leadership and their commitment to the community's continued growth in the city.
