News Anchor Slams Former PM Olmert Over International Sanctions

Channel 12 reporter Yaron Avraham launched a sharp verbal attack against former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, criticizing his stance and support for international boycotts and sanctions targeting Israeli individuals and products. During a televised discussion, Avraham expressed deep disapproval of Olmert's international activities, stating that anyone who loves Israel should not rejoice over sanctions against the country, especially given Olmert's past role as prime minister.

Avraham highlighted the detrimental impact of economic boycotts on ordinary citizens and business owners, citing examples of a winery owner in the West Bank settlement of Nili and a hardware store owner in Ne'alim, near Modi'in, whose businesses are affected by these sanctions. He argued that such measures harm everyone and that the average person abroad would not differentiate geographical locations within Israel when imposing sanctions.

Avraham directly accused Olmert of repeatedly damaging Israel's reputation internationally. However, he also tempered his criticism by stating that Olmert's actions do not absolve the current Israeli government of responsibility. Avraham pointed out that the government's perceived inaction against extremist rioters also causes significant international damage, suggesting that Olmert's rhetoric merely exacerbates existing problems rather than creating them.
