Lebanon Quake Follows Israeli Strikes on Hezbollah Tunnels
An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale was registered in southern Lebanon on September 10, 2026. The seismic activity is believed to be a direct result of a large-scale Israeli military operation to destroy Hezbollah's underground infrastructure. Powerful explosions from the demolition of the tunnels are thought to have caused the tremors.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the success of the operation, releasing video footage showing a massive fireball erupting from the ground as the tunnels were detonated. The U.S. Geological Survey also corroborated the reports of seismic activity in the region.
Katz posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), "We promised and we delivered. The terrorists were eliminated and Ali Taher's tunnels were destroyed. Well done to the IDF." The post included the video of the tunnel demolition. The operation targeted Hezbollah's subterranean network, a significant component of the group's military capabilities.
