South District prosecutors filed an indictment with the Beersheba District Court against Hani Hamidi, 38, and Marwan Ahmidi, 24, both from the Atsam tribe, over alleged smuggling of drugs and cigarettes into the Gaza Strip using drones.
According to the indictment, about a month ago the two conspired with others to export the contraband into Gaza by drone. Prosecutors said the case involves not only the drug and cigarette shipments, but also the use of drones as a delivery method.
In a detention request filed while seeking to keep them in custody until the end of proceedings, it was noted that the alleged acts took place during a ceasefire, even though many IDF forces were still operating inside the Strip.
The two are charged with providing means for a terror act, exporting dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs not for personal use, obstructing a police officer in the performance of duty, and possession of property suspected of being stolen.
