As the 30-day mourning period for Rabbi Yeshayahu Por z”l ends, a fresh public appeal has been issued to help his widow and young son. Por was one of the prominent students in the Chazon Ish kollel in Bnei Brak, and died suddenly while studying in a synagogue with his only son present.
A month after the tragedy, community members say the family’s emotional and financial situation has worsened. They warn that people may have moved on from the story, while the widow and orphan remain “broken” and facing severe hardship. The family’s home had already been sustained only with great difficulty through dedication to Torah study, and now there is no breadwinner at all.
Those close to the family say the loss of the father is not only a deep personal blow, but a daily threat to the household’s basic survival. Rabbis and community activists are urging the public to step up and establish a dedicated, stable fund for the family. The aim is to provide ongoing support so the widow and son can live with dignity.
The appeal also stresses long-term needs for the boy, who was born after 10 years of waiting. Supporters say the goal is to ensure he can continue growing in Torah and later marry honorably, “God willing,” when he reaches that stage. Community leaders are calling on the public to open their hearts and show the family they are not alone.
