Grand Rabbi of Nadvorna Visits Kiryat Gat, Inspects New Synagogue

JDNReligious
Translated & summarized from JDN by baba
The story · English

The Grand Rabbi of Nadvorna, Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Rokeach, recently concluded a special visit to the community in Kiryat Gat. The centerpiece of his visit was the nearly completed, grand new Beit Midrash (study hall and synagogue) of the community. This is described as the first Hasidic synagogue in the city to be built with such splendor and on such an impressive scale, intended to serve as a center for Torah study, prayer, and Hasidic life for the growing community.

Upon arriving, the Grand Rabbi toured the Beit Midrash building, showing keen interest in every detail, the progress of construction, and preparations for its opening. He was accompanied by Rabbi Shmuel Zvi Kobelsky, an activist who presented the construction's status and the facility's needs.

Following the tour, the Grand Rabbi led the Maariv evening prayer service in the new building with community members. This prayer added a special dimension to the visit, imbuing attendees with a sense of spiritual elevation as they witnessed the nascent "small Temple" being built before their eyes.

Later, an extended reception was held at the office of Rabbi Yosef Meir Pruchter, chairman of the 'Ma'aleh' organization and advisor to the mayor. Community rabbis and public figures present included Rabbi David Shuvaks, rabbi of the Belz community; Rabbi Mordechai Charez, rabbi of the 'Kehal Chassidim' community; and Moshe Biton, director of the Haredi Education Department in the municipality. The Grand Rabbi engaged with them warmly, discussing community and educational matters, as well as current events, and offered blessings for the upcoming new year.

The community members departed the visit feeling uplifted and joyful, carrying the Grand Rabbi's blessings for the High Holy Days.
