Netanyahu Spokesperson Accuses Piers Morgan of Using 'Self-Hating Jews' Against Israel

Doron Spielman, spokesperson for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, sharply criticized broadcaster Piers Morgan during a recent interview, accusing him of strategically featuring Jewish critics of the Israeli government to present them as representative voices against Israeli policy. The confrontation escalated when Morgan referenced a British Jewish foreign secretary who had voiced criticism of Israel. Spielman retorted that Morgan himself was responsible for bringing "self-hating Jews" to the forefront against Israel, citing a former Israeli prime minister who served jail time as an example, without naming him directly.

Spielman argued that Morgan's approach misrepresents the situation in Israel by focusing on figures like Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich and portraying the Israeli population as being "kidnapped" by them. He emphasized his own Jewish identity, stating it stems from his heritage, not from political figures.

When pressed by Morgan about whether he considered the British foreign secretary "self-hating," Spielman declined to label him, preferring to discuss the individual's words. Spielman then shifted his criticism to the British Labour government, condemning sanctions imposed on Israelis in the West Bank. He argued that while Israel is fighting against Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah following the October 7th attacks, the British government is focusing its energy on sanctioning settlers.

Spielman warned that such policies could damage the relationship between the UK and Israel, calling the government "incredibly foolish." He also highlighted the importance of security cooperation between the two nations, noting that British intelligence chiefs have acknowledged that Israeli intelligence has saved many British lives.
