Israel Shuts Down Large Dog Breeding Farm Near Ra'anana
Israeli Ministry of Agriculture inspectors raided a large dog breeding farm near Ra'anana on September 10, 2026, uncovering approximately 300 dogs kept in severely neglected and unsanitary conditions. The operation, conducted by the Central Enforcement and Investigations Division, found animals suffering from eye injuries, dental problems, matted fur, and living in overcrowded, poorly ventilated enclosures with stagnant water and food.
Many of the dogs, including poodles, Pomeranians, doodles, French bulldogs, dachshunds, Shih Tzus, and golden retrievers, were not microchipped or vaccinated against rabies. The facility lacked proper medical records and first-aid equipment. Some puppies were found trapped in food bowls.
In addition to animal cruelty, the raid uncovered suspicions of illicit commercial activity, violations of cash handling regulations, and attempts to conceal evidence. These findings have been referred to the tax authorities.
All rescued animals were transferred to a ministry-protected shelter for veterinary examination, treatment, and rehabilitation. A criminal case has been opened against the owner of the breeding farm.
