Prosecutor's Office Closes Rape Case Against Musician Yuval Vilner Due to Lack of Evidence
The Tel Aviv District Prosecutor's Office announced on Thursday the closure of the investigation against musician Yuval Vilner, who was suspected of raping Shi Li Atari and Naama Shahar. The decision, communicated to Vilner's attorney, cited "lack of evidence" as the reason for closing the case.
It was revealed last May, following lengthy legal discussions, that Vilner was the suspect. At the time, a source familiar with the details described the case as "a 'word against word' situation," with the central dispute revolving around the issue of consent. The source indicated that while each party maintained their version of events, significant evidentiary challenges existed, partly due to ambiguous communications and materials.
Despite these challenges, the investigation was reportedly nearing its end and was closely monitored by a supervising prosecutor from the State Attorney's Office.
